Description Extended Information

“What if the garbage man never came?” – now that’s a scary thought. Jolted awake by a garbage strike in Toronto and the mountains of trash accumulating in his neighborhood park, Canadian filmmaker Andrew Nisker set out to investigate the waste we produce. To quantify average consumption patterns, he asked his friends Glen, Michele and their three children to keep all their garbage for three months – even used diapers! They were game for the challenge, and the result is an engaging and enlightening film that expertly balances its light-hearted moments with its serious intent, its wry humor with startling facts. As we learn the pollution costs of the ‘stuff’ we buy, where it goes, and how it adversely impacts the environment and our own bodies, it’s clear that the green revolution truly begins at home.
